FOUR TEAMS ADVANCE TO USTA LEAGUE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH ONE WINNER BEING CROWNED

Congratulations to Karen Foster’s 55 & Over 3.5 team for winning National Championships! The Charlotte Metro team defeated Missouri Valley in the finals taking all three lines, winning two in 3rd set tiebreaks! Congratulations also go out to Wendy Parker’s 18 & Over 4.5 team, Jonathan Edwards’ 18 & Over 5.0 team, and Debbie Carmazzi’s 65 & Over 4.0 team for their outstanding performances at Nationals! 2023 USTA ADULT LEAGUE SEASON ABOUT TO KICK-OFF

The USTA Adult League season kicks-off next week with another record setting number of teams and registrations. Close to 5,500 participants are playing on 417 teams, an increase of 32 teams over last year! Team competition will run through late May, and culminate with playoff events to advance teams to the State Championships. Registration for Summer USTA Leagues will open April 1. Read More
 

TENNIS ON TAP AWARD WINING PROGRAM

The Charlotte Tennis Association is proud to announce that USTA North Carolina recognized our Tennis On Tap (TOT) program as the "Outstanding Team Tennis Event/Program of the Year" during their Annual Meeting in Pinehurst last weekend. Specifically, USTA NC recognized TOT Ambassadors/Coordinators Megan Hunter and Alex Udell for all their efforts to provide social play for over 500 young adults across four sessions in 2022. FLEX LEAGUE WINTER SEASON WINDING DOWN

Almost 600 players have been braving the colder conditions to play in the Charlotte winter season USTA FLEX League. These players have had a lot of match play over the last several weeks and are prepared for the start of the USTA Adult League season. The next FLEX League will run over the summer and will include men’s and women’s singles and doubles play. Read More
 

2022 USTA SOUTHERN AWARD WINNERS

USTA Southern recently recognized recipients of their annual awards at a luncheon held in Atlanta. The Charlotte Tennis Association is proud to claim two of the 24 award winners for their for outstanding achievements and contributions to the sport of tennis. Congratulations to Carla O’Connor for winning the Junior Team Tennis Coordinator of the Year award and Robyn Haug for winning the Local League Coordinator of the Year award! NINE TEAMS EMERGE AS SOUTHERN COMBO DOUBLES LEAGUE STATE CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to all the teams that won their local divisions to advance to the 2022 USTA Southern Combo Doubles League State Championships. The Charlotte Tennis Association was proud to send 32 teams to compete. Nine teams claimed championship titles and are advancing to compete in the USTA Southern Sectional Championships being held December 1-4 in Mobile, AL. Read More
 

65 & OVER CHARLOTTE METRO TEAM TAKES SOUTHERN SECTION TITLE

Congratulations to Debbie Carmazzi’s 65 & Over 4.0 team, for winning the Sectional League Invitational in Dothan, AL! Debbie’s team is planning to complete in the National Invitational being held in Surprise, AZ in February. Read More
 

CTA SUPPORT FOR WHEELCHAIR TENNIS PROGRAMMING

This past Saturday, over 80 players, including Charlotte Tennis Association Board members and Pro League players, participated in the Wheel Serve Fundraiser held at the Queens University tennis facility. The event consisted of six rounds of friendly up/down competition and an on-site silent auction. Wheel Serve raised funds to support wheelchair tennis programming across the state. Read More
